Anyone familiar with "Automated Promoted Campaigns" and how to turn that function off? I'm seeing it attached now to any newly created listing.

Do you use trending rates? I read that if you do, the rates may change on their own.
If not, this thread might help.

I plug in my preference for rates. The suggested trending rates showing to my eye are basically whimsical random amounts picked out of the sky!
From a bit more testing it appears now if you create a listing the happens to fall in an active promotion based on your preferences the new listings gets plopped in there too. Up until a short time ago (maybe before new listing tool you could choose to either add or not add at your discretion with any rate you wanted. That feature is now AWOL. You are limited to what you can do with any running promotion. If you want to make major changes you need to end and start the promotion over.

Is there a procedure in place to not automatically automate any new listings created from not being promoted??

What??? I've never even heard of this before, I totally agree that one shouldn't be automagically included, assuming it costs money, if it is free then hey that's great.
I'm going to have to watch my listings, I'm wondering if this is something in certain categories only?
I'm wondering if this is just poor wording that actually is advising that if you create a listing like or that would have been included in an already running campaign it would be added automatically for you?
I'm looking forward to what we hear back about this.

If you have the promotions column added to hub page, these are the variations you will see. Discovered entirely by accident that a few new listings had been added. That's when I looked for and found the disclaimer in post 4.

I don't find any automagic ones in my list, I didn't check them all (4000+). It will be interesting to see what Devon has to say about these.
It is interesting that the automated one doesn't show a %, it can't be FREE can it? 😀

Because it gets added to a current running promotion(I checked) and all the listings in that promotion are in most cases use a set percentage it only would be free if someone found the listing within a regular random search. As a seller, right now pretty much all we can hope for!! (Well unless you really like paying extra?) Compare it to the land that time forgot where your buyers found stuff using the search bar at the top of the page or by scrolling through a sellers listings. (Store or Non-Store). When I state it that way it almost sounds far fetched!!! 💀 I think I need more coffee!!!

Well then it should also be showing whatever % is currently being used, same as if we set it.....

When the person a question is directed to only marks with a helpful, it is really not that helpfu???
On an indirected connected note I'm still waiting for followup from last month or the previous months question on clarification regarding where promoted fees are pulled from. I've NEVER had any consistency with that process.
Asking stuff of ebay(as of late) reminds me of that old joke.....How do you keep someone in suspense? ..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................I'll tell you tomorrow!!!
Dot com sellers are feeling the same way!!!

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! Let me reach out to a few specialist and I will update you on what they said once I hear back!

@lotzofuniquegoodies I heard back from the Pormoted Listings team and they said:
"If sellers have things set up with an Automated campaign then there's not a way to turn that off. If sellers don't want any new listings to be automated at all then they'll want to end the automated campaign and then create a Simple campaign. Those are fixed, so at that point sellers could add new listings to it but it's all manual (adding listings and adjusting the ad rate). If there is a specific category or price range that sellers don't want to promote though, they can set up the automated campaign to not include that category, price range, etc. and then it would only pull in listings that match the rules they set up."

My campaignshave ALL been set up as simple campaigns. I noticed after the fact that any new listings were being automatically added to the already running campaigns. There used to be an option with the old tool to either add or omit a listing you were creating. This is no longer available.

They introduced the automated campaigns quite some time ago, I'm guessing it's been around for close to a year now. I was aware of this and checked it out back then, as I recall there are all sorts of parameters you setup as you like for the campaign to apply automatically as new listings are added. It's a complex setup, possibly prone to glitches so it was a hard pass for me. If I remember right (could be wrong on this) the automation was capable of varying the rate from day to day which might be the reason why Lotz's screenshot did not quote a rate.
As per last post to Devon when I created a promotion I have always used the simple form for the same reasons as your hard no. In taking a closer look at my running promotion page only 1 promotion is flagged as automated (Most likely inadvertently). Main issue being I have created listings in those non automated categories but promoting was automatically added (to new listings) when I view in sellers hub of listings as per previously sent screenshot. Guessing what varies by type of promotion is what you can or can't edit. With just testing using the old listing tool I can see the option to select or deselect promoted. That is not there with the new listing tool.
To my mind this appears to be a negative option billing strategy on eBay's part. Getting hooped(automagically) into something I didn't ask for.
