Received a message today from eBay advising me they are here to inspire me with products available for sale. First thing on the list was toilet tissue at an exorbitant price. Oh well...

I thought they were supposed to be monitoring price gouging during this COVID 19 crisis? Think that was in a message I received earlier from them.

Most likely the papier toilette listing you saw was because of possibly clicking on a listing recently. The bots pick up on that kind stuff. Sad but true. It's eBay's idea of a Cool Thing".

I wish someone could explain to me the hoarding of toilet paper. Just what are people expecting, this is not stomach 'flu. I was a nurse in England during a bad 'flu epidemic in the 60's, the last thing people needed was toilet paper.
I understand getting in canned food, frozen veg, bread to freeze etc. but going to Costco many people had carts just filled with toilet paper. Very strange!

Just checked for the heck of it. Over 9000 listings for toilet paper. Many, many with stupid prices. I can't believe the gall of these useless maggots taking advantage of peoples fears. In days gone by this would be called "profiteering" and they would be tossed in jail for their behaviour. How times have changed. Unbelievable.

There is something about toilet paper that defines (to some) life in a first world, and that to be without it, would to be a lower class citizen perhaps?
Either that or they are unaware that toilet paper is a modern invention and that for almost 5000 years of our recorded history, mankind has used everything from sticks, rocks, weeds and plant matter etc. to help with things. I mean, if you are going to hoard toilet paper, you should hoard magazines too, don't the two go together?

Or perhaps since we were told to stock up on supplies that will last at least a month...Many families are multi-person households. We have no right to judge whether someone has bought too much toilet paper or not. With EVERYONE being told to stock up on supplies I would think there would be a shortage of something. It just happens to be toilet paper.

My FaceBook friends have been touting bidets.
A friend who has no arms (thalidomide) was enthusiastic about hers, which is an addon to any toilet.
Called something like a Tushy Bidet: yep, I had the name right.

Or check to see what quality of paper your local newspapers are printed on. Back in the day theEatons mail-order catalog was a popular item for it's back end quality. But they switched to good quality paper in the 1950s. The glossy paper no longer did the job, but it took a few years when I was a kid to get my parents to stop putting the catalog out as toilet paper for the farm outhouse. Some habits continue long after they are useful....

"I wish someone could explain to me the hoarding of toilet paper."
Some people are just more full of it, and they know it...
My cousin in the UK just told me that they also have the "Toilet Paper Armageddon" me I purchased, dried peas, beans, chickpeas, dried skim milk, water purification tablets...
...if this really is the "End of Days" I want to be able to make some food, I can wipe my butt with a leaf or one of my old eBay invoices.
eBay are you going to help your Sellers by reducing Fees!?

I was a child in 1960's England we used crispy little sheets of folded paper, the standard at the time...
...young people nowadays have no idea what it means to "Suck it Up" or "Make do and Mend" or the feeling of using fold sheets of "paper" to wipe their delicate triple cushioned cashmere ...
STAY SAFE!!
