Top rated sellers are required to add tracking numbers once the item is sold. What if, item is shipped with postage stamps where no tracking number is available.Would a top rated seller loose it's status due to this?If top rated seller mark such items "mark as shipped" is it ok.Please clarify this. Thanks

Yes, the TRS would be lost.
You have to decide whether the extra cost for tracking is worth it to maintain a TRS.
For some sellers, the answer is yes, for some, it's no.

"Yes, the TRS would be lost."
on eBay.com only
You may continue to get TRS status and 20% FVF rebate on eBay.ca . The rules are different on the two sites
on eBay.com: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/top-rated.html
on eBay.ca: http://pages.ebay.ca/help/sell/top-rated.html
You will notice the "tracking" is not required on eBay.ca
Good Luck

In the past month I have shipped overseas to France, Spain and Austrailia. The France and Spain sales would not have happened if I, as the seller, insisted on a postal Tracking Number at $40-$50. No TN meant a charge of $10-$20. The items were sent without Tracking as agreed to by the buyer.
With the Aussie buyer I insisted on a Tracking Number. The charge was over $49. The buyer was not happy, but reluctantly paid the invoice of over $100. I do not expect to make many more (if any) overseas sales when I have to charge over $40 for a Tracking Number. No Postal Tracking Numbers means no insurance or signature rqd.
Money grab for the Canada Post, maybe. How else can a .ca seller make a sale and keep the customer happy.

The tracking requirement for the US TRS status only applies to sales made to US buyers.

Conundrum. Charge robber barron shipping that reduces sales but allows a miniscule discount on a small fee. Eliminate the requirement for tracking, drop shipping charges to make buyers happy, gross sales rise dramatically.
As the saying goes "A nickel holding up a dollar". You are saving a nickel, but, forgoing the dollar.

A little off topic, but Canada Post is single handedly destroying small on-line business in Canada. They intentionally rip-off their own people.
For instance, I sell small circuit boards. They weight well under 75g. If it is under 2cm thick when packaged I can send it from Ontario to BC for about $1.50 postage. No problem there, right? However, if it’s 2.1cm thick the price goes up to about $15.
Meanwhile, I order a bag of parts from China where they are made. They cost me $30 + $2 registered shipping through EMS. The bag weighs about 400g and is 6cm thick. Canada Post pick it up from customs in Vancouver, BC and deliver it to me in Ontario, including the tracking updates and signature, all for their paltry share of the $2.
Am I insane or is there something a little whacked about all this?
Sorry for the hijack.
