GOOD DAY : I sell and buy on ebay like everyone else , anyways these morning I was looking at some items that sometimes I like to purchase , sports cards ( packs ) , I even sell some myself , anyways as I was looking thru the listings on ebay.ca for hockey card packs and I noticed that one of the listings (scan) picture looked mighty similar to mine , and wouldn't you know it they were using my scan (picture) , so I contacted the seller , so they took it down , all they had to say for a reply was '' is that all you got do is go around checking peoples listings LOL ''

Some sellers do this because they are lazy. They do it because it's just easiest just to use GooooglE especially for anything that would be considered one of kind or obsolete either based on condition(cards/coins/comics) or sealed in package. Others because they think it's okay. I've had it happen to me a time or 2. Once by a new seller. When I pointed it out he apologized and removed immediately. The 2nd time was a high volume Chinese seller. (Both my listing and theirs had exactly the same image series with the same blanket background and my text description verbatim). When I messaged there was no response. When I filed a report, nothing happened. Sadly, it's gonna happen and labor-intensive to locate any culprits.

PS. Of note for the 2nd item if you were to use eBay's Catalog it's not even close to a match so possibly why they went to that extreme.

If you want to protect your images from being used by other sellers then I would suggest that you start watermarking your images.

Apparently if your images are picked up by the eBay catalogue, you/we have given permission for eBay to supply them to anyone.
Watermarking would discourage most of these, especially the newbie who use the pictures more or less honestly.
With used items, "borrowing" others' pictures and descriptions is quite likely to lead to Not As Described disputes for the borrower, since he can't supply the exact item.
Mwah- hah-hah-hah-haaah.
EBay seems to want multiple Reports of bad behaviour from multiple members before taking action, although we do see the occasional complaint (especially on the dotCOM Boards) of items that have been removed, usually from disconcerted buyers whose seller suddenly went NARU.
A single Report from another seller is going to be greeted with a little skepticism.
