Is there a way of getting rid of the sponsored links at the bottom of my auctions? This is a huge conflict of interest. I just noticed this today that when you click on shipping details, a list of sponsored links to the same merchandise I am selling, shows up at the bottom of my listings, and some of them are to wholesale sites, and one is even a link to Amazon. Now I know we are not suppose to say that name here, but if ebay can put a link to their site at the bottom of my auctions, I can sure use the name here. This really makes me mad, it's like ebay is saying, don't buy from this seller, go off ebay and buy it wholesale. We are not allowed to put links in our auctions to off ebay sites, so why is ebay allowed to do it?

Well, I "think" those ads are tailored to your searching. I looked at one of your listings and got a MaxSold advert at the bottom. Unless you live in Eastern Ontario, ya really shouldn't see this ad as it is for a local on-line auction house. Very different than eBay.
I see a MaxSold ad because I frequent their site.
Anything that you recently looked at would be yer cookies and would attract an ad for what you looked at.
I am still getting loads of trailer parts ads as I was listing trailer wiring a couple weeks ago. I did a lot of searching, and now that is in my cookies, attracting trailer ads.
Note, that what you see at the bottom of your listings is not what someone else sees.
I hope that's true, but at the bottom of my 4in1 case auction was "all" ads for DVD cases for sale, and I have not looked at offline sites for this at all. And as I said one was to Amazon featuring the same cases I sell. I have not been to Amazon site since last year sometime. I can't believe eBay is allowing Amazon to advertise on eBay. It's just bad business to let a competing auction site to advertise on eBay.

I use FireFox browser with free AdBlockPlus that eliminates advertising. I sell little if any ads on eBay.
To the point where I miss some eBay sellers ads that are notices on the main eBay community home page. I have to manually turn on ads for that page so as to not miss something important. But this is a rare event and since I read the forums, I never miss anything important as it will be discussed in the forums.
Here is Wikipedia entry on AdBlockPlus showing what other browsers are supported by ABP.

PS AdBlockPlus eliminates ads you see, not you buyers unless they have it installed. And AdBlockplus does not eliminate sponsored links at the bottom of the listing page. Just many other ads.

eBay really does not do anything. I would imagine they rent out the space to an ad agency that loads up the computer with ads. Then the ads, we each see, are tuned to our preferences.
You have a little too much conspiracy theory going. I "think" that your computer sees you looking at cases and looks through the loaded in catalog and gives you cases ads.
Like I say, you got a cases ad because that is relevant to you. I got a Maxsold ad as that is relevant to me.
Do not want to see anything? Good luck with that. Banner ads are everywhere.
Why do you say dvd case ads are relevent to me? Because I sell them on ebay? I never do searches or anything to do with dvd cases except that I sell them on ebay. So I don't see how they are relevant to me. Every single ad at the bottom of my listing was outside links to other sellers selling dvd cases.
