Spring 2016 Seller Update - Fee Increase

"they have people answering questions there. Alex"

As Canadians paying fees to eBay.ca we have the right and the expectation to get the same treatment here, on eBay,ca

Spring 2016 Seller Update - Fee Increase

Really trying not be be negative here, but, 250 characters, remembering that the listing title is max 80 characters and just using that as a reference point. Could this increase the number of "item not as described" I do fill out the item specifics section. If I put "excellent" as the condition, in my listing I put why it's excellent, is that no longer important. If it's a book maybe there is a tear in the dust jacket etc. Isn't this opening a "buyer beware" situation more than it is currently. Are we down to just item specifics and hope that it's accurate enough for a sale or is our description to be "looks great, works"  or "this is a new item/ this is a used item" we all know there is "used" and then there is "really used".

Or maybe I'm over thinking this. I know people are into their cells and it is their life, I have witnessed people going into a complete meltdown when their cell isn't readily at hand, I have seen people get up and literally quite their job after being told no cell on their desk or being told they are on it more than working (these are people 35+) so I understand ebay wanting to "reach" that market but is this what is needed, max 250 characters.

How about an ebay disclaimer: If you purchased on a cell no "item not as described" can be filed, as you chose "eBay's shortened description" not the sellers full description. (I like dreaming, it helps me get through my ebay day)

What is your point? I don't see eBay.ca getting the same treatment...

As usual, on .com there is a lot of double talk and no answers to many questions.

I doubt if .ca has any departments set up with staff that can answer questions like they do on .com.

It would be very interesting to find out exactly what .ca has for staff.

Request and nothing personal::

Could you please get rid of the dark blue box or make it lighter. It is very hard on the eyes.

I found that too and changed my preferences so that I don't see people's signatures on their posts.

I noticed that and remain puzzled that eBay.ca wuld offer a US$ price to Canadians after changing its policy of listing in Cdn$ only on the site  Did not make much sense to me.

"Coming soon, Canadian registered sellers will be able to purchase shipping supplies such as eBay-branded boxes, envelopes and tape online. Availability of eBay-branded shipping supplies will be announced soon. At least initially, these supplies will be shipped from the US and priced in US dollars."

So, according to that, the supplies will only be available from the USA, so US$ pricing makes sense. If they ever start shipping form Canada, I'd expect CA$ pricing.

Well, is anyone really surprised that there would be some form of increase. I was contending getting a store for this account but maybe I will have to give that another thought.

Since Ebay has increased prices on stores, does that allow sellers to break their contract with ebay?

For the basic store, which is what I have, I wished they gave more "fixed price" listings than auction format.  I hardly sell anything using auction and when I do I feel like I'm giving it away.

If somebody does not answer your question on this thread, you can ask it on the other thread: http://community.ebay.ca/t5/Seller-Updates/2016-Spring-Seller-Update/m-p/333063.

I don't use many auctions either. I really feel items sell for more that are BIN because the buyer does not have to wait for an auction to end and can just get in immediately.

Off the US boards

have also recived confirmation that while there is messaging regarding the early termination fee, if you choose to change your current subscription there is no fee from today through June 4th. You will see this reflected in both the confirmation and cancellation pages.

Thank you.

Spring 2016 Seller Update - Fee Increase

With this new update I will be closing both my stores/ending my subscriptions. This update is really only about an increase in fees (hidden between a bunch of other irrelevant updates like character descriptions, coupons for shipping supplies and other nonsensical distractions. I'm not falling for it. Not this time.

***Question: If I close my stores/end my subscriptions right now, will my active free listing promotions go away (not the ones that come with the store, but the extra ones like 100k free listings in Can currency etc)? Basically, should I use up as much of these promo listings as I can and then close my stores, or does closing my stores not impact the extra active promos on my account?

The promo should be separate from your store as it is listed separately under selling manager summary.

In that case, that's perfect then! What were they thinking giving out all these promos & telling us there are more to come, then increasing fees on store subscriptions? Who in their right mind would keep their store open? Just for the long ugly url and categories buyers are too lazy to browse through anyway? Forget it!!! I was getting plenty of free listings/sales before opening stores, so back I go. And in a few months, eBay will be begging us to subscribe to a store again with all kinds of deals/discounts when they realize they messed up. I shall wait for that and THEN, IF the price is right, I will consider opening stores again.

Maybe sellers who want to save money on fees and take advantage of the other goodies that come with a Store.

If you want to close your store because of a $5/month price increase by all means do so but there are plenty of sellers saving hundreds or thousands of Dollars per month in fees by having a Store.
