This is getting spupid

Every time I send an Expedited Package I am notified that I underpaid - every time.

What is bothering me is the amounts.  They are always under a buck. These are big packages in the $30 to $45 dollar range.

The amounts they claim I underpay are like these examples: .34 cents, .70 cents, .68 cents. This is nuts amount like that must be in the 1/4 of a centimeter range. The measurements of my packages are in the 35 to 50 centimeter range and are going to vary slightly no matter who measures them - my measurements are accurate. This is really bugging me - getting nickle and dimed by the Post Office.

Any one know who does the measuring - a machine or a person?

Really? I don't doubt what you're telling me because you're never incorrect but.... really?! Okay, I stand corrected. I put my next best theory behind fuel surcharge changes and volumetric issues being to blame for the rash of under-paid charges.

(And thank you for correcting my erroneous statement.)

Re: This is getting spupid

The problem here is not the people buying the postage.

The problem is the computer program or programs used to determine the cost of postage.

Many will use the options available specifically for eBay sellers.

The basic for calculating postage is Canada Post's computer program..... and if there is a problem...  such as the situation I presented...

Then it is Canada Post that has created the problem..

Contact Canada Post  and ask them... Why is there a problem?......

I agree, call Canada Post. At first I thought it was just me, but it seems that others are having the same problem. I am very careful with my weights and measurements. I mailed an expedited package yesterday and instead of adding weight and cm's like I have been doing in the last few weeks, I put in the exact amounts. I want to see if I get an undercharge on it.

Re: This is getting spupid

I strongly suspect the problem is with Paypal and/or Pitney Bowes and not Canada Post. Don't hold your breath waiting for them to fix it, either. This is the undynamic duo that omit about 20 Tracked Packet destinations for going on two years.

Start with Canada Post, they will tell you it's paypal that is the problem. When you call Paypal, they will tell you it's the fault of Canada Post. I have been down THAT road more than once and it has made me very skeptical.

One additional thought:  I noticed on my last PayPal label that PayPal printed the Canada Post official rate for postage on the label -- not the Solutions for Small Business amount actually paid. You might want to check your next PayPal label and make note of any difference.

Re: This is getting spupid

I have the same problem everytime I print expedited parcels from Paypal.  It always comes back with underpaid postage 1-2 weeks after shipment.    I'll try calling Canada Post on the next one but I don't have faith it can be resolved.

Try using Canada Post's SnapShip instead of PayPal -- the discount should be the same. Disadvantages: credit card is required, address needs to be copied, ebay tracking has to be entered manually.

Or use Shippo. Clunky interface, but discount should be the same as Paypal, ebay updated automatically.
