I don't understand why their is a unreasonable hold on my sales. The only reason this could be is 1) protecting
their asses, 2) protecting buyers and not the sellers, 3) must be making interest of my mony being held.
Not happy with not having my money when the buyer has the item and gave me a positive feedback rating.
If you hold payments because they are high value eBay shouldn't be in business, if they can't honor their commitment to seller they also shouldn't be in business. Just seems like a scam policy on eBay's behalf.

ANY new sellers/sellers returning to selling after several months absence/occasional/infrequent sellers are subject to a "probationary period" whereby there are listing limits /restrictions and payment holds,(payment holds can be up to 3-4 weeks or until eBay is satisfied that all is good on all fronts.)
It is what it is and sellers learn to accept, adapt, adjust and carry on!
Been there, experienced that!!...after not listing on eBay for 6+ months during 2021, had to start all over...the payment holds were only for the first couple of sales and then all was good. The startup low listing limit of 10 was a big slap in the face, but that increased quickly and thereafter the listing limits were increased each month and now have more listings available than needed...although because I do not have an eBay store...I am limited to the 250 free listings/month on .CA as well as the 250 free listings per month on .COM.
I sell low-value items so perhaps that can be accounted for what seemed to be a good transition. If sellers in your situation list and offer expensive, high value items, there indeed may be extra precautions taken by eBay.
It's all doable, but it does take PATIENCE!

The only reason this could be is 1) protecting
their asses,
It's called "due diligence" and Standard Business Practice.
Seems unwarranted in this case.
2) protecting buyers and not the sellers,
Buyers are harder to come by than sellers.
EBay has a strong Money Back Guarantee, but claims through Paypal or credit card chargebacks can take up to 180 days to be filed.
3) must be making interest of my mony being held.
EBay, like Paypal, has often stated that their customer's payments are not held in interest bearing accounts.
This might even be a legal requirement.
Holding $1000 for a month at current interest rates would earn less than a dollar. In the meantime, eBay loses a paying customer, the infuriated seller. Seems like a poor business plan.
