Unsold items

eBay charges to list (if you go over the free listing limit or use optional listing extras).

eBay charges if your item sells (Final Value Fees).

...

If the listing is not sold there are normally no fees.

But, if you end an auction early that has bids you  may get charged even if you don't sell the item.

Beware that your Unsold ended listings don’t live forever. They’ll expire and disappear after, I think, 60 days if you don’t send them back to active and list them again.

90 days under the ebay new seller hub, 60 days under the old ebay interface.

The big shock on unsold items is that the Reserve fee on auctions, if used, is not refundable.

There are other non-refundable options, but that is the one that catches out n00bs all the time.
