Did anyone else receive this message. I have 2 email accounts, one Google that is very reliable, it didn't come up on that, and one that it came up on is not so reliable.
Buyers now have the option to request an order cancellation using the Cancel order button before the item is marked as shipped.
I am just not sure if this is really from eBay.

I got the message from ebay messaging as opposed to an email (no email yet) so it's legit.

I also saw that message in eBay messages this morning, I just re-checked my regular email since I didn't recall seeing it there, but lo-and-behold there it was in my junk folder. So I got one both in eBay messages and my regular email account. Most messages from eBay don't wind up in junk but for whatever reason that one did.

Thanks, I never usually get a message on Outlook and not on Google, you have to be so careful these days.

It's legit.
I received it via e-mail and on my Ebay private messaging.
I think it's a win win for the customers and the sellers.

I like it. Keeps it simple.
Just have to be sure that lettermail and untracked shipments are mark shipped as soon as you post them. Sometimes I would wait until the next morning to let it get on its way.

I never ship anything same day so the time before purchasing a shipping label and/or finalizing the packing up of an item has always worked well for me and allows adequate time for buyers to cancel and/or change mind BEFORE I mark as "shipped".

Those are the perils of being prompt and providing good service. Basically darned if ya do and darned if ya don't!! And we all know what could happen if you send to a difficult customer who "wanted or tried" to cancel........
For anyone on here that can remember way back when either placing a bid or purchasing USED to be a contract one was committing to. Now really no longer the case.

I have had 3 day handling time for years so this cancellation thingy is no big deal for me...

It's not a self cancel. It is still a cancellation request so the seller can still refuse to cancel.
it works the same way as it did before but instead of the buyer only having an hour to send an official cancellation request, they have a few days. They cant use that feature if the item has been marked as shipped, just like before.

Still had someone message me today after they paid asking to cancel, so not sure where the option is, or if its not that easy to find. Or maybe its not on .ca since ebay doesnt seem to update this site (pretty much ever) even thought they messaged Canadians about it happening.
I still cancelled for the person, but I don't really see why this needed to be "fixed"

Instead of "fixed" a better word would be "improved" or "expanded".
