Has selling on eBay.ca helped you start a new business; afford something you've always wanted or even just provided you with some extra pocket money?

We want to know!

We're currently looking for sellers (full-time, part-time or occasional) who are willing to share their stories with us. In short, we're looking for lively, interesting stories about peoples' experiences on eBay.ca.

What will eBay.ca do with the stories?
Every month, we will choose the best story to post on our new "My Story" page as our Story of the Month. We'll contact you before the story goes live to tell you that your story has been chosen as the Story of the Month.

We'll also send you cool eBay.ca gear so that you can show off your new fame and trade in style.

Previous winning stories will be kept in the "My Story" archive for up to 12 months. All winning stories may be edited for clarity; and also may be used to promote eBay.ca in the news and broadcast media. If there is a possibility that your story will be used for media promotion, we will contact you prior to releasing the story and endeavour to observe our Privacy Policy.

Send your story to tullah@ebay.com and don't forget to include a daytime contact number or email address.

Looking forward to hearing all about you!

"What will eBay.ca do with the stories?"

Does eBay.ca only want to hear about "success" stories on eBay.ca or is eBay.ca prepared to publish "failure" stories on eBay.ca?

What's your eBay.ca story?

I can think of 100+ stories titled:

"Why I closed my store on eBay.ca - 60% fee increase!"

Occasionally a request is so nervy I almost choke on my own tongue. No time here to write fluffy stuff for ebay unless they're willing to pay me $1.00 (USD) a word as compensation for my time. I can't afford to be unpaid for the time as I must now work harder trying to sell more to balance off the excessive fee increases.

I'd be a little suspicious about this one, what's the motive?

What's your eBay.ca story?

They've always had "success stories", eg the tiny clock guy and nans jam ones from CTS posters in the past. Ebay gets to show people how easy it is to get rich ;), people that get their story featured get readers clicking to see their auctions and maybe some new buyers. Nothing sinister, anyone selling in a quantity and type of product that makes sense would be crazy not to try and get the free exposure.

Ebay is far from perfect. You take a gamble when selling on ebay.Sometimes you make money, most times you loose money.Ebay does not loose money.they make it of anybody that sell's.It's like you make it of one item, but for that sell, 10 might not.So you loose. You might break even. What's the point. We try selling item's that we know that are going to sell, or get bids. They do sell, but for little,or nothing. So we take them to the local flee market, and they sell for more.Trying to decide if i should list my cards on ebay,it's funny.Item's that you think will do well won't,and item's that you think won't will. It's a risky busines.

I am afraid you won't be getting many happy stories to share!

Right now, there are thousands and I mean thousands of Ebay Sellers who are madder than a hatter at the increase of Ebay fees!!

Stores are shutting down, and there will be more to come since most people are waiting to get their money's worth from the 9.99 they just spent for this months stores, they will be shutting them down before the end of this month.

So if you are looking for success stories, you will only be getting stories of anger and resentment to the greed that was so eloquently displayed via email right after Christmas!

Hi Everyone,

eBay gathers stories from eBay buyers and sellers around the world on an ongoing basis throughout the year. eBay then shares them with the community, as each person's experience and success on eBay is unique. The community has asked us to keep posting new stories, as they are inspirational to other buyers and sellers. We try to feature as many as many Canadian stories as possible on the eBay.ca home page, which is a great way to share your experience with others. We have had an overwhelming response with visitors to the site reading the stories.

Hundreds of eBay buyers and sellers have responded to this call for stories, and I would like to say thank-you to all those who have shared their stories, we are in the process of reading through them all. They are fantastic, and keep them coming!

Regards,
Carly

It is important to underestand that eBay does not have the resources for such program. It is very expensive.

Now, give it a month or so and, as fees increase, maybe eBay will find the money to fund such program. 😉

If they do not, we will have to wait another year and other round of fee increases 😉

lol Pierre... now that's REALLY wishful thinking that they would spend the extra profit on a better help program!

Funny they can't find the resources for such a program but they have no problem with finding the resources for reading "success stories" lmao!!

Pierre im not talking about a program,im talking about human relationship.
And the "its so expensive" excuse isnt a valid one in my opinion..ebay can afford whatever they want...specially after the 18th 😛

When a call most corporations, I usually get an answer/service even if I have to go through the annoying robotized service.
