eBay has the rules that sellers should follow with respect to fakes, and counterfeits..
Many sellers follow the rules.... and then are those who list and sell fakes and counterfeits.....
eBay's problem is when
eBay profits from the sale of fakes and counterfeits.....
a collection of FVF...

Yes, It is very clear. Why Was The Counterfeit Report able to purchase over 2000 counterfeits from eBay sellers? And when he bay was notified of the counterfeits, and received confirmations from the manufacturer, did eBay notify prior buyers they may be entitled to a refund? (read more)

At first eBay looked on the buyer who worked for Counterfeit Report.... as a "difficult" Buyer... making claims that were not true.
Eventually eBay accepted that the buyer was reporting items that were fakes..
and supposed eBay is working with the "Counterfeit Report" Organization.
and if that is true ... eBay has a big job to do....
What happens to a seller of counterfeits?
Are they removed from eBay... or are they still selling on eBay?

The most shocking thing about that statement is that it was allowed to go on for six years.
I think we probably all have seen at least one seller we're aware of that has been hawking fakes for quite some time. I report them, but then who knows what actually happens behind the scenes? What excuse does eBay have for this? Surely neither the violations themselves nor the lawsuit can be good for corporate optics.
The one thing eBay seems to be good at is shooting itself in the foot, either quickly or excruciatingly slowly.

Many years ago there was a business selling autographs..... certified.... in relation to hockey memorabilia.
There were found to be creating "fakes" ... certified, but fakes.
Their business disappeared overnight.
eBay was one of their selling options

The biggest problem with fakes.
They are not immediately obvious until you handle them and see them in person..
