Boy I do not like this new format!! Not sure what happened but only the heading posted. Wondering if anyone is using the new eBay postage label system & how they are finding the pricing compared to Shippo or Paypal. I was going to print a label the other day - just a tracked packet to the US 100 grams. The cost on Shippo was $12.15 & $13.91 on eBay. I wrote them & they indicated that I must have a higher discount than the small business level 1 which I rather doubt. I have another one today & same thing with Paypal (this time) $12.15 & $13.91 with eBay. Is anyone else seeing this as well. Not sure what will happen when we are required to sign up for MP which I must before the 27th as we will no longer be able to use Paypal & I am guessing our info on sales will no longer go through to Shippo either. I am so not impressed with this!

You can still use Shippo to create postage. (Option to switch is at the top right of eBay Labels). It's just just a matter of feeding your PayPal account with funds. From my bank to PayPal is 8 business the 2 times I have needed to do that. If there is a 0 balance in PayPal it will remove from your Bank account in what looks like 2 to 4 days totally processing time. As it was explained to me, PayPal is basically covering the fund for you based on your past history. Not sure but you may be able to link a CC to Shippo. I've never tried. Someone else may have more info on that.
Currently there are no other ways for Canadian sellers to move funds from their bank account to PayPal any quicker.

PS. There have been a few reports of discrepancies with charges to eBay Labels. Mileage may vary.

Thanks Lotz. I will check this out.

@katlover1952
The level 1 tracked packet US rate for 100 gr is $12.15 so you received the level 1 rate on Shippo. $13.91 is the level 1 rate for 101-250 grams so it looks like it is an issue with the weight. Did you actually enter 100 grams or did you enter a weight that was less? If you entered 100 gr I bet that they set the pricing for 1-99 gr and 100-249 instead of the CP pricing of 1-100gr and 101-250gr

Actually if you used Shippo for that transaction you can still 'pretend' to print a label through eBay by clicking on print label next to that transaction. Then you can experiment using 100 gr and then less than that to see if it gives you correct rates. Then just exit rather than buying the label.
I tried to check myself but the only transaction I could look at still had ounces in the weight field.

I pay all my Shippo labels with my credit card that is on file with them. They usually charge me once a week.

As an FYI.
Discount rates with eBay Labels appear to be floating. I just ran a test without completing processing. Discount for small packet air International for under 1.4 KG showed 2%. When the weight was adjusted to the correct actual weight .750 grams the discount changed to 1 %.

I printed an eBay label this am & it charged the correct rate but still in lbs & oz & inches so a pain to convert grams to oz. This was obviously another change by eBay that was not well thought out ahead of time.

This would not be as simple as that for me Lotz as my account is in a US bank. Would also be lots more expensive to do transfer. Does PayPal let you have 2 accounts? Guess you would need a different email address to do it.

That's odd. The first time I looked at the label page it was in ounces and cm but the last few times I checked the weight was in grams or kg and cm so I thought that it would be fixed for everyone.

Update...I did a US label today and the weight was in ounces so perhaps they've fixed the domestic label page and not the US one??
while I am thinking about it...
You mentioned to Tyler on the weekly chat that..
'Customs invoice does not include Country of Origin, Unit Weight, HS Code, Quantity, Currency.'
What are you referring to as the customs invoice? The label that I did today did have an area for the country of origin, unit weight and currency. Were you referring to something else?
I did notice that the unit weigh didn't actually carry over to the printed label. The total weight of the package that I had entered was the only weight that was showing. I doubt that it really matters though.

Whenever I've done some exploring with eBay Labels I've always seen metric. That issue could be simply a clear cookies/cache issue to correct.
It appears some "tinkering" has been done to customs form with eBay Labels. HS code, Country of Origin have been added.
The invoice we get with CP/Shippo/PayPal/eBay Labels are all stripped down versions of universally accepted customs forms. Technically it is a legal document. This is why it is never recommended to describe as gift or use a creative number for value. Value is based on what the transaction documented. Customs can always modify if they disagree.
Regarding methodology for item weight: Standard is.... Item weight(Before packaging) then system does the extending. Universal standard system. Similar to math for prices. It's unit price not total price. Sample included is for basic reference purposes. If total unit(s) weight is more than inputted actual package weight you will receive an error message.
Same goes for info porting over from the listing to eBay Labels. In most cases it will need to be manually updated. Often the country of origin for goods is included in the original listing(Those nasty Item Specifics). This has never ported over to any of the current options. System automatically displays Canada for even Shippo.
Default for currency of example displays as CAD.
Is it possible to create eBay labels from a dot com sale and show transaction details in USD?
Currency needs to match in all applicable fields.
With Shippo you can modify currency when necessary. (See example)
(Note: With Shippo required format for HS is still ######. When it populates to form it updates to ####.## . eBay Labels has it correct.)
Re: Packing Slip
Packing slip that is included with eBay Labels still omits Pricing with extension, Taxes - US/VAT & Shipping along with buyer and seller phone number/email address. Similar to the eBay Label tool. This info would need to port to any printed documents so customs could scan label to view. That was the reasoning behind CP obsoleting the CN022 manual form and requiring either a generated customs invoice or the alternative, using the online form. Reason for including a complete packing slip is a requirement for many international countries/postal systems to confirm that the order matches the customs invoice.

Be grateful we don't need to include the long form of a Canada Customs Invoice with each shipment like you do with courier shipments.
