Does Canadian eBay have global shipping like the US? How do I get set up? Seller on eBay.com for yrs

I live in Canada and sell on eBay.com only to Canada. I want to be able to sell to both Canada and the US. Does Canada have a Global shipping program like the US has? How do I go about doing this?

PS: I'm technologically and computer challenged so need things to be simple. It has taken me two hours just to fing this site.

Thanks in advance.

No, There is NO Global Shipping Program for Canadian sellers.

You've only sold to Canadians? Wow,  that's unusual since most sales come from the US. You don't need global shipping to sell to Americans. Just add US shipping to your shipping profiles. You can get really good rates on eBay with Canada Post tracked and UPS rates are very good for larger items over 2kg.

In your shipping profile, below Domestic Shipping, is International Shipping. Choose custom location and then select the US and then add the cost/service.

EBay set up the GSP for US and UK sellers who were terrified of shipping overseas. (witness Trump and Brexit)

Canadians have always been more sanguine about the honesty of foreign buyers.

GSP recently was replaced in the USA by the eBay International Shipping program, which offers even stronger Seller Protection .

From the standpoint of someone who has been shipping internationally since before eBay existed, the only real advantages are

  • that the seller's responsibility for delivery ends at the US/UK plant and
  • that return shipping in NAD Claims is  from the shipper's address not the buyers.

Frankly, both situations are less likely than xenophobic and paranoid Yanks and Brits think.

One protection it does offer is against the 'customs delay' scam, where the buyer is notified that the shipment is ready for pickup, waits until eBay's estimated delivery date passes, make an INR Claim, gets a refund, trots down to the PO, pays the import fees  and takes home their prize. This is even more rare than other scams.

Consider yourself Lucky that there isn't a GSP Canada to US !!   TOO Expensive and you would lose more business than you would gain.
