Shipping from Canada to USA

Hi,

I am new to eBay (Canada) and have listed some items including an old chandelier that belonged to my parents . When it comes to shipping to the US from Canada, the drop down menu at the time of posting my ad gave me an option to use UPS and there was a price range. Now, a potential US buyer is asking me to confirm the shipping cost but I can't find this US shipping information on my ad.

So, 2 questions:

1- Am i bound by the original shipping price quoted?  The items is very bulky (2.7ft x 2.7ft) and I don't want to get caught not being able to ship or having to pay more for shipping

2. Does the buyer pay duty or are there customs forms to fill?

Thanks!

First of all as a new seller, I would not reccomend shipping to any other country except Canada for now. Sometimes new sellers are targeted by unethical buyers.  And secondly, now that tariffs are being charged on all inbound items coming from Canada, shipping labels have been disabled by eBay to send to the US. Stick with Canada & local pickup till you have more practice selling & build up some feedback.

You have some beautiful items for sale. I'd be leary of shipping those items outside of Canada. They are big and breakable and being a long time seller I would never risk  shipping a chandelier to the USA. The shipping cost to the USA must be huge, and just the fear of the buyer claiming it was broken or not as described is enough to not sell it on Ebay.  What a nightmare the return shipping would be if the buyer complained . I'd try 100% to sell this locally, with pick up.  It might take longer but it may avoid a lot of hassle in the end.

Until the item is bought you are free to change the shipping price.

To see the USA shipping price for your listing:

(1) If you have a flat rate set up, you can edit your listing and see what you have.

(2) If you are using calculated shipping, you can look at your listing in incognito/privacy mode with your ship-to address changed to a USA postal code.

However, I would recommend only selling to Canada and avoid the USA until the August 29 tarrif issue with the USA is solved. Too easy to lose money until those details are sorted out.
