The buyer has received my item. Why do I have to wait 2 weeks for my money from Paypal?

A buyer purchased my item and I printed a packing slip and mailing label through ebay/Paypal and mailed the item. I got a tracking number and entered that on ebay. I just received a notice that the item has been delivered to the buyer and yet I still have to wait 2 weeks before Paypal/ebay will release the payment to me. Is there something else I should be doing in order to get my money? How is it fair to ship an item promptly and do all of the above and yet still have to wait 2 weeks to get my payment?

You are a new seller, and as such have no track record with eBay.

Your buying experience does not count.

As a method of Buyer Protection, Paypal Holds cleared customer payments for up to 21 days from clearance against the possibility of Disputes.

Remember Paypal allows Disputes for up to 180 days from payment, and eBay allows them for 30 days from delivery.

Annoyingly for Canadian sellers, non-US members are held to the full 21 days, while US sellers get their money on delivery.

This longer Hold applies to all non-US sellers.

But basically, it's not you, it's business.
