Hi - recently started selling to the US and in Shippo although it's not required I wanted to fill in the tariff code. So for example I sold some CD's and used this site:
https://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/wtz/business/findHsCode?execution=e1s1
It gave me the HS code: 8523.49 . So at first I tried to enter that in the Tariff code in Shippo and it said invalid. So, ok HS and Tariff Code not the same.
I went back to the CP website to the Tariff Schedule page and nothing came up. Is that normal?
So in a roundabout way I'm asking a) in Shippo do I need to enter the HS code anywhere? b) How would I get the tariff code? c) what's the difference between the two or d) since tariff code is not required per Shippo and I see nowhere to enter HS Code - Should I even worry about it?
I hope that makes sense.

HS code and Shippo's Tariff code are the same.
The problem is some systems want the period used and some don't.
8523.49 versus 852349
I believe the new version of Shippo fails if a period is used when buying Canada Post shipping.
