I create my inserts in Word. When I cut and paste into the description section it either doesn't show up or the text shows up in a different format. I see so many beautiful selling sites. How can I create beautiful inserts and have them stay in the format I want?

Creating a listing in MS Word and copy/paste into the eBay description converts MS word format to HTML and the conversions can be quirky. It also results in a bloated HTML. You should use an HTML editor to create proper HTML.
Graphics or pictures must be hosted on a third party site such as Photobucket and just the URL placed in the description using HTML.
For help on this, ask your question in the eBay.com forum Photos & HTML.
eBay member shipscript is a regular helper there as well as others.
shipscript has made many free tools for use in eBay listings. See her eBay about Me page here:

There are some HTML editors listed on that page.
