How to pay a seller after transaction refunded?

I bought an item from a seller using credit card. The item was thought lost and seller gave me a refund. Item finally appear in the mail (worse for wear but intact).

I want to pay the money back to the seller but use PayPal instead of credit card.

Is the seller still charged the fees by Ebay in the original transaction even though it's refunded?

If not charged fees, once the seller receives the money through PayPal, will anyone be reprimanded for not giving Ebay their cut?

The original transaction is null and void.
He has been refunded his fees, although he is still out his original shipping cost.

You can go to PP and use Send Money, which is under Tools.
You will need his PP address for this.

I had contacted a seller, and told them I received the item after it was refunded- and I was placing another order and paying for it - but told them to keep the item and payment -since it had already arrived.
