Hello Devon,

Do you have a follow up on this question from Oct 11, 2022? It seems like the ball is being dropped when it comes to the answers for many of these questions.

Hello Elizabeth,

Could you please confirm where funds are supposed to be removed when a customer cancels an order AFTER payment. I have been told by agents that it should be from the pending transation. This does not seem to be true. On several occasions funds were pulled from my bank account even tho fund were never sent. A cancel should be straight reversal. Seeing as eBay is the processor of these funds, cancellations should be handled from those funds.

It is similar to Promoted Fees which should be pulled from the pending charge. Not from a bank balance Because you can only "attempt" to hold funds(CANADA- playing with payout settings) it makes it difficult to always be able to cover store fees. In Canada on many accounts there can be additional fees for over the limit monthly transactions. Has there been any update as to when processed funds can be used for other purchases like what is available in the USA?

Thanks,

-Lotzofuniquegoodies

PS. This is also a major concern for sellers that use eBay labels and the delay(s) in processing shipments. Funds not being in the right place at the right time.

Hey @lotzofuniquegoodies. We're going to reach out to our Payment Specialist's on this to get confirmation, and then we'll touch base on their response.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! I reached out to our payments team and they said this:

"Refunds will always come from available funds. If there is nothing in available funds it will come from their bank account or automatic payment method. Whenever a refund is issued to your buyer, either directly through the refund flow or through the claim or return process, and there aren't enough Available funds to cover the cost, we'll charge your payout bank or automatic payment method for the excess refund amount. We do this to ensure your refunds are fully covered in case there isn't enough in your Available or Processing and/or On hold funds to cover the full amount."

For clarification. Do any charges need to be pulled from processed funds or will they pull from funds that are in a state of processing? I've had it happen on several occasions where an order had to be cancelled(for various reasons) and the customer had already paid but the reversal was pulled from my bank account.

It appears seller fees are routinely removed from a processing transaction. Promoted fees are randomly billed. It would be most helpful if sellers could leave a "float" to cover fees.

@lotzofuniquegoodies I reached back out to the payments team and they said:

"The only fees pulled from processing will be the selling fees. If a seller wants some sort of a "float" we would recommend weekly payouts rather than daily."

i totally agree with you - i hate it when then remove funds from my bank account -- since i don't use a bank account except for ebay i a very low cost seniors account - all funds are immediately transferred out i  need to use the money to live  -- i wish ebay would let you tranfer say 80% of your  earned money out leaving in ebay account  20%-enough to cover all these unexpected charges- the bank charges for overdraft - is always infuriating- and costly these days --   they should let you  set  the % of bank coverage funds  to leave in ebay so

you don't have any shocking surprises each wed morning when they add those charges
