One scenario.
The buyer pays, using her bank account.She just wrote an "e-cheque" and like any cheque it has to clear the banking system.
If she is not in Canada that can take a few days, sometimes (rarely) up to ten days.
Until then, you have NOT received payment and you should NOT ship.
Cheques can bounce.
Meanwhile, your customer sees the money has been taken out of her account and is nervous because you have not shipped.
If she asks, tell her about e-cheques.
And that Canada has a completely different banking system so clearance may take a day or so.
Assure her that her purchase is packaged and ready to go as soon as Paypal allows you to print the shipping label from the cleared payment. (This is almost entirely true.)
If/since you are a new/occasional seller, your buyer's Cleared payment will be Held against customer satisfaction.
So to free it up, use a tracked service.
You can buy your shipping label sometimes at a discount through Paypal and use the Held funds for that.
But again, do NOT ship until you see the payment as Cleared in your Paypal.
