Advise for new cell phone or digital Cannon SD630.

Hello there.   I need advise on what cell phone or Digital camera to buy with good picture taking qualities. I currently have an old Samsung Galaxy 4, cell phone purchased in 2013 and it takes horrible photo's. I'd like to sell on eBay again and need good photo qualities to upload on eBay. I also have an old 2004 Canon PowerShot SD630 digital camera but not sure if my 2013 iMac computer would accept the format's to use for selling on eBay. I sold on eBay from 2004 to 2008. I would like to sell again but I'm not sure if I have the best equipment. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks Kindly, Ace

I'm surprised that your having issues with the photo quality of your Samsung Galaxy 4. I have a Samsung Galaxy 5, and it works fine for me. Especially considering you can go in and crop the photos, adjust color & brightness, once you've taken the photos.

 My advice would be to first play around with your settings, to make sure your using the best settings for the situation. Pretty much any smartphone should be capable of taking the quality needed. But check your settings, and remember that with the basic photo editing features available on all smartphones, you can do quite a bit with what might start off as a bad shot.

I should add that there are also some good photo editing apps available for your cell phone, that can offer some beneficial features that might not be available with the software that comes pre-loaded on your cellphone. I know that when I first started photographing Glass Marbles, I was very unhappy with the photos I was ending up with. I downloaded a magnifying app, and the difference was night & day. For small items like marbles, jewelry, coins, etc. Such apps are essential. Try a few of them out, play around and you'll be surprised at not only the vast improvement in photo quality, but also at how easy it is to obtain that level of improvement. Finally, it's not always the fault of the camera. Use a white or light backdrop, and watch a Youtube video about lighting. It may sound simple, but there are different types of lighting, and what might seem acceptable to your eye, it does NOT mean that it's suitable for the camera lens. There are many little details when it comes to photography, that can make a huge difference to the quality of your photos, and as a result, a huge difference in your number of sales.
