Is it legal for eBay to withhold the sale tax charged on sales from registered Canadian business sellers? As a reseller we pay the HST on our purchases and collect the HST from our buyers on items sold on eBay. We then remit the HST balance to ottawa AFTER deducting our HST credits This helps alliviate the cost of our goods sold. What gives eBay the right to withhold the HST collected on sales when in fact the seller is supposed to send it to ottawa?
