if you do not receive a tracking number when supposed to, then what?

Some listings declare in their terms that item is to be shipped without tracking#, in that case if it gets lost you might be unable to claim.

Well that's just plain wrong.

For a buyer tracking serves no purpose.

Tracking is a Seller Protection against unwarranted Item Not Received Claims.

If your purchase has not arrived and the last estimated date for delivery given by eBay has passed, just go to the Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page.

Open an Item Not Received Dispute.

The first suggestion is to Contact the Seller.

Don't get into a conversation.

All you need to ask is "When was this sent? What service was used? What is the tracking number?"

Do NOT accept an offer of a replacement. It won't arrive either.

You want a prompt refund or a useable number that shows the shipment is in Canada.

If you don't get that, ask eBay to step in and escalate to a Claim.

If the seller cannot prove delivery (not shipping, delivery) you will be refunded.

If you are a seller, and choose not to use tracking, you should be using Cookie Jar Insurance.

This just means adding a few pennies, rarely more than a nickel, to every asking price, to cover the cost of refunds on the very occasional claim.

Claims are less common that you might think, since what we see here on the Boards are transactions that went off the rails, not the millions that went just fine.

It takes in my experience, about 20 days for items to arrive from North America, and about 30 days from Asia.
