eBay NEW DICTIONARY DEFINITION-
US $0.99 or more = $1.oo OR MORE

WHEN LISTING AN ITEM on eBay.COM- eBay states:
"Buy It Now price - Please enter a Buy It Now price of US $0.99 or more."

AFTER LISTING WAS REMOVED- the following e-mail arrives:
"The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Circumvention of eBay Fees policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:

Buy it now item listed at less than $1"

So, anyone can list a 99¢ BUY IT NOW item, at eBay's own suggestion- and then be told that it violates the Circumvention of eBay Fees policy?

Anyone at eBay care to comment?

Orwell was so right!

lina,

Not sure what is up there. I know that early this year the new rule went into effect that store listings and fixed priced listings had to be $1.00 or more.

Most certainly there has to be a glitch. Did you contact PS support by phone so that they may clear this up for you?

I have written PS support- any other request for information was met with a canned reply:
"*****THIS IS AN AUTORESPONDER. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE*****

Thank you for writing to eBay Customer Support. We sincerely value you
as a member of our trading community and understand your concern
regarding your recently removed listing(s).

We realize that there are times when you may have additional questions.
When your listings were removed by eBay, we sent you a Removed Listing
Notice, which explained why we removed your listings and provided
helpful information about eBay's policies and guidelines. Should you
have further questions or concerns, please review the information below....."

ALL these similar auctions were listed at a 99¢ BUY IT NOW- without any incident:
380051025771, 380053106864, 160231683830, 380002362117, 380050344261

Has anyone else tried to list a 99¢ BUY IT NOW LATELY?

Hi lina,

Were these older listings? 380053106864, 380002362117

When searching for the 5 items you mentioned...they say that no item was found for those two.

I haven't done any .99 BIN lately or store listings for that price because the rules changed back in February.

A loooooooong grace period was given for sellers to get their store items in line with the new rule. But BIN as a Fixed Priced Auction has been in effect for quite some time.

Perhaps your current listings squeaked by on a glitch?

Hi lina,

Just found this in the help section.

Pricing for multiple item listings

You need to enter a starting price of at least $0.99. Learn more about Multiple Item Listings.

Pricing for fixed price listings

Enter the price at which you wish to sell your item or items as the Buy It Now price. Note: The minimum amount for which you can list an item is determined by eBay and varies by country.

Most definitely, pick up the phone and call Trust and Safety at PS Support. It's easier than e-mailing.

"You need to enter a starting price of at least $0.99. Learn more about Multiple Item Listings. " This is true for auction BUT NOT FOR FIXED PRICE listings

The minimum for fixed price listings (regardless of quantity in listing) has been changed to $1.00 earlier this year. Obviously some HELP page have not been updated and there is still some problem with the core where some programmer may have been confused between

Larger than $0.99
and
$0.99 and larger

Two different things!

The confusion is also created by eBay using "buy-it-Now" for two different pricing methods

1) an optional upgrade to an auction listing (added fee)

2) description of fixed price listing (core or store) .

Pierre- I am sorry but I must be missing something here.

What is the difference between your 95¢ BUY IT NOW auctions, for:
BELGIUM 1966 Queen Elizabeth Souvenir Sheet MNH #B790,
with a QUANTITY of FIVE available.

And, our Item number: 380050344261 for:
4 x STARBUCKS CANADA English & French COMFY CHAIR Cards
99¢ BUY IT NOW price, with a QUANTITY of FORTY available.

I can't wrap my head around the difference.
Both look like a "fixed price listing (core or store)"
What am I missing?

"What am I missing?"

You are confusing "Buy-it-Now" the optional upgrade added to an auction listing
and
"Buy-it-Now" expression used by eBay for fixed price core listings and store listings

Different rules apply to each.

It may be easier to understand if eBay used different terms to identify two different functions.

To confuse you even more, you may find old listings at fixed price (not auction) in eBay stores under $1.00. Those were loaded on the site prior to February and the new rules are being ignored for those.

Keep it simple and check the new rules as they apply to:
1) auctions with Buy-It-Now option (extra fee)
2) fixed price (core or store) .

By the way 380050344261 confused me as I do not understand why lots are sold at unit price (4 x $0.25).

Would it not be easier to simply list the sets of 4 at $1.00 each?

This was a Dutch auction (I guess). As stated above, rules are different for auction and fixed price listings. .

Pierre- I am still confused.
Our auction is identical to yours.
You may have fewer items available, but both are multiple item format, FIXED PRICE auctions, with a BUY IT NOW price of less than US$1.oo.
Our auction is not a DUTCH auction.
You simply hit the BUY IT NOW button, and indicate HOW MANY you wish to purchase (in units of four).
The FOUR items offered for the BUY IT NOW PRICE are identical/similar, offered as a GROUP- much like a BLOCK of stamps.
We do not offer these individually, just as you would not break an auction for a BLOCK of stamps to sell singles.
eBay INSERTS the additional information regarding UNIT PRICE.
We have no control over the "Cost per item: US $0.25 each (Not sold individually)" information added.

"Our auction "

Yes you are confused. You are using the word "auction" arbitrarily.

Either it is an auction or it is NOT. Store listings are not auctions, they are fixed price listings with lesser visibility offered through stores only (not core).

"We have no control over the "Cost per item: US $0.25 each "

Of course you do. Avoid listing lots with low per item price. List sets of 4 instead at a fixed price of $1 per set of four at fixed price, not auction .

Pierre- the prior listing, and continuation of the lower price BUY IT NOW is not readily apparent.

When you wrote: "Keep it simple and check the new rules as they apply to:
1) auctions with Buy-It-Now option (extra fee)
2) fixed price (core or store)

"
We are using the FIXED PRICE tab- so regardless of what it is called- eBay say right at the time of listing that the price must be 99¢ or more.
eBay writes quite clearly "Please provide the correct information in the highlighted fields.
Buy It Now price - Please enter a Buy It Now price of US $0.99 or more.
"

If eBay wants this to be $1.oo or more- just ask. But eBay clearly permits the listing of 99¢ BUY IT NOW items- at their own suggestion!

I of all people am not naive enough to believe everything that eBay writes. However, if it CAN be listed at "US $0.99 or more"- as per eBay own suggestion, how can eBay then say it's against the rules?

Hi lina,

There's a new thread on the US Power Seller list that may be of interest to you. It's titled:
