I shipped an order Valued at $297.00 U.S. by Canada Post commercial expedited. Because it was valued at over $200.00 the brokerage was outsourced to PBB Global Logistics. Here is the breakdown of the bill I just received.
$8.02 Duty
$2.00 Customs Merchandise processing fee
$18.00 Brokerage fee
$30.00 Security Bond Fee
$5.00 Disbursement
Total of $63.02 Canadian
Lesson learned is that if I had split my shipment in 2 and shipped it Xpresspost the total cost of shipping the 2 shipments would have been way CHEAPER and the customer would have received the order sooner.
Check into the May threads. We had quite a big discussion about this but as auctiondropnship points out, if you use a manual manifest instead of the online or electronic shipping tools, you wont be charged.
What you should now do is take this up with your CP rep as the charge should be borne by your customer and not you. Argue and fight this to the end as there is no way the seller should ever be liable for taxes or duties imposed on goods shipped into a foregn country.
