Cancellations - Senior's Moment

Emailed seller before bidding to confirm shipping cost, bid and won item an immediately paid for item (shipping was a bit higher than quoted but no problem).  Then I get an email saying shipping would be even higher.  Long story short we agreed to cancel.  He wants me to cancel before refund issued which I know not to do but if I ignore the cancellation request he will ge back his fees, have his items and my money.  So here is where the senior's moment comes into play what do I do?

If you ignore the request he can close it in 7 days and receive his back.

Have you told him that you will cancel once the refund has been done because that's what ebay recommends you to do?

If he won't cooperate you can file for an item not received...probably not right away athough.

You probably know this but just in case you don't...If you refuse the cancellation, the seller does not get their fees back.
