Commercial account with canda post ..Deep discounts

So with a min of 1000 parcel to Canada a year i can get deep discount and reaching volumes of 5000 would give me Expedited to anywhere in ontario for about $5 ..

right now my volume hit the 1000 a year Canada post here is the price difference

Paypal $8.94

Cananda post $7.21

this may sound stupid but all this time i wondered how these big business do it and this is how ...

anyways though there would be more people who always wonder how and this is how with volume you can get a commercial account same as the big guys the higher the volume the deeper the discount which make places like future shop and amazon be able to get massive shipping discount to offer free shipping...

I always knew there had to be good discounts for the bigger guys, both on eBay and elsewhere, but I didn't realize the discount would be quite so generous.  When you say "1000 parcels", do you mean 1,000 parcels going by Expedited, or 1,000 parcels of any kind, by any service?

As a smaller seller, I worry about shipping issues making me less and less competitive and attractive on eBay, and chipping away more and more of what modest profits I make each year.  I doubt I'll ever have 1,000 parcels a year, so CP discounts are pretty much out of the question for me (except for, thankfully, what I get through Paypal/PitneyBowes by using online labelling).

With eBay encouraging and rewarding free shipping everywhere, and shipping costs rising every year, it's a big concern.  For example, even though I discount almost all my flat shipping rates by 10% - 30%, I still obviously have buyers who feel that's not sufficient, because I can never seem to get 5 star DSRs for shipping costs.  Not that the 5 star rating is essential, but to me it's a reflection of customer dissatisfaction about shipping if they are "5-star happy" with everything else.

I don't mean to poke a pin in your balloon, but shipping is a bigger struggle if you're a small seller, and it's one more reason why I think "boutique" sellers like me are going to become rarer on eBay.  EBay rewards high turnover sellers in a number of ways, and Canada Post discounts help those sellers only.

Just a commentary from the other side of the equation...

1000 parcel with regular,Expedited,Xxpresspost..

Lettermail does not count ...

It is seperate Deals with US and Canadian Parcels ... min requirement sorry is 750 parcels to Canada and 100 Parcels to US...

The more the better deals so the big guys really get HUGE discounts ..

I spent the day speaking with a specialist to open and account but i am going to take time getting into and want to get to 1500 parcels to get a better discount because the difference NOW would only be about 5%-10% from what paypal give but I have to manually do everything on Canada post until i build my customer address base on the Canada post site..

It was very interesting finding all of this out and i am hoping it will work soon as i now have found my 25-30% off lettermail with the parcels discount this could be good ...

Anyways fun fun

I tried to sign a contract with CP last year (I ship about 1200 parcels a year). The discount they proposed was really interesting (I ship mainly Small Packet). Finally, I did give up - mainly because the software provided by CP is not compatible with Ebay/PayPal and all data must be transferred manually (with that software even a simple copy/paste didn't work!). I hope one day they will implement some kind of PayPal/Ebay plug-in .....

It would be time consuming to transfer info but once all set up it is good to go but they even said most people only come to them once they have there own site as it can be easily integrated..

the set would not be too bad I mean no more time then it takes a high volume seller to keep up with ebay's changes once a year ...

Small packet does not count Basically has to be a Trackable to sum it up ....

I will be getting pricing info sent to me later today and will post it for other to see

Yes, it is confidential. Small packet does count - I get a discount just for small packet.

Transferring the data to CP software is time-comsuming - and I can't build my own addresses database, because I almost don't have returning customers (I sell unique items to unique customers).
