EU Custom's limits

Can anyone confirm that the EU is, as of 31.12.08, adopting the same personal importation limits (150 Euros) for mail order transactions, effectively matching existing limits for air travellers entering via non-Eu countries?

Thanks

EU Custom's limits

Found the answer.

As of 01.12.08 Custom's limits were raised to 150 Euros but the 22 Euro limit still remains for VAT (19%) purposes.

Best of the season to everyone!

VAT rates vary by Country, the UK is down to 15% due to the "stimulus" reduction (what Harper could do now, except he already wasted that card).

This change is really meaningless since duty isn't charged at all in many cases and even when it is the rate is quite low. There is some speculation that perhaps more packages on the borderline will slide through, at least in the UK where a high percentage of packages already go untaxed.

If you are creative with your customs forms best to stick with the old limits.
