Gold flatware

I need to know the value of NIROSTA 23 Karat feinvergoldet flatware!Can someone give me an estimate on the value of these.They were a wedding gift to me in 1979!They came directly from Germany.The name of the town back then was Zelhaussen.It is now Mainhaussen 1.I did a search on here and only came up with silverware!No this flatware is 2 different sets and they are gold!!

I need to know its estimated value.Please contact me!

Gold flatware

They are gold plated. The amount of gold involved is minute.

 

Prices would be comparable to modern silver plated flatware.

Gold flatware

Gold is a very very soft metal. It is virtually useless as cutlery.

Take a fork or spoon to a local jeweler, preferably one who is a Gemologist, and ask him for the current value of your pieces. He will be able to tell you if your cutlery is plated over base metal like steel (probable) or over silver (this is called vermeil and is less likely, but more valuable).

The gold plating has two purposes: for pretty and because gold does not tarnish.
