Now Available: “Report” Link Enhancements on the Discussion Boards

Hello everyone,

I'm here to tell you we have rolled out the "Report” Link Enhancements. These enhancements will answer requests from the eBay Community to have the opportunity to convey more information to the moderators when reporting a post on the Discussion Boards, Chat Boards and Answer Center.

These enhancements will enable members to select a reason for their report, and, with the addition of a free-text box, also allow members to convey a small amount (80 characters) of information about the report.

The options for reporting given in this tool are in "user friendly" language: the actual eBay Board usage Policy is what will continue to be cited by the Moderation Team in Post Removal Notices, and all members should become familiar with the policy found here: http://pages.ebay.ca/help/policies/everyone-boards.html.

Please note that the moderators will continue to review each reported post and will independently determine both (a) whether a post is in violation of eBay policy, and (b) which policy the post violates. Posts that do not violate eBay policy will not be removed, and excessive reporting of posts found not to be in violation will continue to be inappropriate. In addition, while eBay will, as a courtesy, remove a member's own post at their own request, please remember that this should be requested infrequently, and that such self-reported posts will receive a warning if found to contain policy violations, as would any other report.

We hope that this new ability to clarify the reason for your report will be helpful to you. We appreciate your help in both following the policies and in helping us educate others about those policies.

Regards,

Lilybean
