Other Sellers Copying my Listings

Hey Everyone!

I've just encountered a situation in which multiple sellers have been copying my listings, word for word. What, if anything, can I do about this?

Register a grevience with eBay, that is not allowed.

They won't do anything about it. The last time someone copied my listing they copied it template and all. eBay wouldn't do anything about it until Seller Source Book, who owns the copyright to the template, got involved. When I asked what I could do to keep others from copying my text word for word they basically said there is nothing I can do.

How about the Pictures? Word for Word is no big deal, it's why re invent the wheel, But when it comes to Photos I fell that's a big issue since there is a lot of work involved and is much more personal than a few lines of text

Select all text on the page and copy it into your word processor.

If you have lengthier text and spike it with your hidden phrases, and copycat is not careful, they will be showing your hidden messages and links. Or at least you make it harder to copy as they will need to manually edit all your hidden content out.

If you go and try to 'cut and paste a piece of our about me page-
you will get this:

WHITE text is hidden between each word.
A time consuming technique- but quite effective in the early days.
Now GLOBAL REPLACE programmes have made getting around this somewhat easier.

The above is accomplished by adding:
< -- font color="#FFFFFF">o<-- /font>
(eliminate the -- to make this work. As this box is HTML enabled- If I place it here as it should be, it will not show!)
You can also add whatever message you want in place of the "o"

We also use- "THIS IMAGE STOLEN FROM- AND OUR eBay ID"
Effective when using image where there is text that will be readable.

I'm happy that they they did that for you. I can't figure out why they do it for some and not for others. The last time someone copied me word for word they said there was nothing they could do about it. And it was the whole page, template and all.

Thanks 1144852, but I already knew that was there. They just didn't stand by their own policy and do something about it until Seller Sourcebook, who own the copyright to the template, complained.

They told me there was nothing they could do about her copying the text. Maybe THEY should read that page!?..?:|
