Same item being auctioned a couple of weeks apart?

I have been shopping for a specific item only to find that the same thing is up for auction a couple of weeks after it was already sold. It is the exact same pictures. The description is the same, word for word, and the serial number is identical. The seller is different and the item is located somewhere different as well. The seller is registered in Italy but the description says that the item is located in Florida and this item was auctioned in Ontario Canada a couple of weeks ago. Is this possible or does this sound like someone is trying to pull off a scam? I would like to bid on this but I'm scared that I could lose a lot of money if this is a scam.

Hi .. What's the seller reputation (feedback) look like. Weird things happen on ebay. Perhaps its the buyer wintering in Florida lol. Is it an expensive item.

It is possible the item was sold to a deadbeat buyer (nonpayer). Seller waits for the non payment process, then relists. It happens all the time.
