Sold probably out of stock item. Can I cancel order?

Greetings.

I believe I was sold an out of stock item by a chinese seller.

Can I ask the seller to cancel this order and give me a refund?

Thank you.

When you buy from China, you expect a long transit time.

The seller advised that there will be a one week delay in shipping your order.

Will that one week delay make such a difference to you?

That one week delay does not make a big difference to me.

I'm new at ebaying and wary of being scammed. I think I'm safe tho. I just reread Ebay's buyer protection program and the seller has a 99.3% feedback rating.

You haven't answered my question though. Would that unexpected and additional delay constitute a valid reason to cancel an order?

Thank you.

You can ask the seller to cancel if you wish.

He may agree or not.

It is way too early to file a claim for non-receipt.

I was told to wait 15 days past ebay's latest estimated delivery date before filing a claim for non-receipt when the item is from China.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

But mark that date on your calendar. It is easy to forget these purchases when shipping is delayed.

You have 30 days for an eBay dispute after that projected delivery date. You have 180 days from payment for a Paypal dispute.
