eBay grew first quarter revenue 14% to $3.7 billion compared to the same quarter 2012, and net income grew 19% to $677 million. eBay executives made a presentation to Wall Street analysts and answered a myriad of questions after releasing earnings on Wednesday.

eBay Marketplaces grew revenue 13% to $2.0 billion in the first quarter, year over year. Gross merchandise volume (GMV), excluding vehicles, also grew 13%, reaching $18 billion, which the company attributed to "the continued improvements to eBay's core technology designed to make it easier and faster for consumers to shop and buy."

...  Fixed price GMV grew 17% globally and represented 68% of total GMV, while Auction GMV grew 2% in the quarter."

Would be nice but it will never happen.

I guess too many items sold at .99 with 30.00 shipping.

Unfortunately some sellers really took advantage of the system & ruined it for all of us.

ebay just wants their piece of the pie, fair or not.

Oh well.

Thing is, there are a lot of sellers that still do not know the FVF on shipping is there, two years later. They are still selling ".99 with 30.00 shipping."

But then they would have to raise FVF to make up for it! 😞

Of course, Basic Economics.

Eliminate one fee, increase another to make up for the shortfall.

"Eliminate one fee, increase another to make up for the shortfall."

That is exactly what eBay did two years ago when they lowered FVF on most fixed price transactions to add FVF on the shipping charge.

At that time, many sellers did benefit from the change.

To reverse that concept would not benefit anyone.  Not the buyers, not the sellers, not eBay.  Why bother?
