eBay the latest of several companies to dip into their credit line

Assuming that report is correct, I am not sure why eBay would use its line of credit for those purchases since it is sitting on US$ 3,342,717,000 in cash (and equivalent) at September 30th, 2008 - with no offsetting liability. .

eBay the latest of several companies to dip into their credit line

They are following the old principal of "use other people's money to make money". If it doesn't work, management can take a bonus and leave their creditors holding the bag.
