starting to beat a bid

If I see a bid start at 1.05 and I bid 3.00 it is not good enough and I try 3,4,5,6 times before I get the bid? Then the bid is up to say...30.00 what is up with that

It means someone was willing to pay $30.00

Just bid once and bid the maximum you are willing to pay.

eBay then enters incremental bids on you behalf up to your maximum.

starting to beat a bid

If the asking bid is $5 and I bid $50, the opening bid will show as $5

If you then bid $10, the high bid will show as $11 to me.

If you then bid $12 the high bid will show as $12 to me.

If you then go nuts and bid $50, the high bid will show as $50 to me since I bid first.

This is making you crazy so you bid $100 and at last the high bid is to you-- at $51.

Provided no one else bids, you will win at $51.

But is Bidder r***b comes along and bids $75, you will still be winning -- at $76.

Does that help?
