Slingshots for tree trimming

I need to trim some branches that are pretty high up in the trees.  My thought is to use one of those saws that is literally like a length of chain with blades in the middle and handles on the ends.  I need to get a line up and over the branch and then use the line to pull up the saw and then pull back and forth on the saw ends to cut the branch.  My problem the branches are too high to throw the line over so I thought if I could find a sling shot tool that would propel a weight with line attached to it up and over the branch I would be in business.  Has anyone seen such a slingshot tool?

I would use a slingshot as a slingshot tool.  Use a large nut with some light cord tied through it.  Fire it over the branch then tie a rope to the cord and pull the rope over the branch, using the cord.  Just an idea. Might work
