Fee increase for Reserve Price coming October 1 / 2016

Since it was buried in a bunch of post office related announcements, I thought I'd mention this:

On October 1, the feature fee for reserve price will increase to the greater of $3 or 4% of the reserve price. This is eBay's continuing effort to discourage the use of this feature.

Way too many sellers (or more accurately listers) do not realize that the opening price is a Reserve.

In that no one can bid less than the opening price.

And it's FREE!!

A reserve, or starting at an unreasonable high price is a ploy, and has nothing to do with selling.

Had a brief conversation, a few years back, with a car seller who was doing that. He did it strictly for the leads it provided.

Then there are the ordinary "I know what it is worth" and want high retail in a wholesale environment.

Like Femme says, "listers".

A few years back we even gave a name for that sort of person, on Motors Board in the US, "Elias". Elias, not his eBay ID, had a wrecked BMW, lying in weeds, beat to snot. His "I know what it is worth" price was ten times the actual value.
