Does anyone know why the system will no longer allow me to modify the fonts used in my product description? Previously there was this possibility but now it has disappeared and the system just arbitrarily imposes a horrible basic font, often too small to read.

Most likely you are using Internet Explorer as your browser. Microsoft updated this browser automatically with other windows updates for the past month or so and it is causing issues with eBay. To make the eBay Sell Your item form work properly, you need to use the Internet explorer option called compatibility mode.
