Canada Post Strike/Lockout!

Just wanted to know what others are doing in terms of this strike that may occur. E-bay has sent e-mails stating that we don't need to stop listing or set our stores to vacation mode. But I'm a little worried that if Canada Post does indeed go on strike, us Canadians will have numerous bad feedback's due to this. Any input and advice on how we should proceed would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Canada Post Strike/Lockout!

I'm not closing. I'll use Cash on Pickup and couriers plus trips to the USA to utilize USPS. Plus, I increased my handling time to set a realistic expectation for buyers. I don't expect business to be brisk but I also don't think Canada Post's problems should be mine.

This is from today's announcement at http://announcements.ebay.ca/2016/06/29/7806/

  • Any defects or negative/neutral feedback received as a result of delayed shipments caused by the postal disruption will be removed

Canada Post Strike/Lockout!

I put my Stores On Vacation after ending enough listings to make sure that I would not be paying for more listings than are covered by the "free' listings that come with the Store.

Most of my items are LetterPost/Light Packet and I include shipping in my asking price as 'free' shipping. So couriers would be too expensive.

If you are close to the border (or can use a third party shipper like Chit Chat Express in Toronto or Vancouver) and listing on dotCOM (so you don't have to accept Canadian buyers) is feasible.

I am going to tell the  buyer the problem & offer to cancel the sale if they don't want to wait. You can ship in Canadafor a parcil about the same price with UPS or Fedex Ground. Not to US cause they charge a custom brocker fee to the buyer which they might appreciate.
