Auction cancelled after I bid

I bid on a brand new skin cleanser (item 252393816445) a few days ago.

I was just informed the seller cancelled the auction citing "miscellaneous reasons".

Say what??

I called Customer Service and they suggested I email the seller, which I did.

I haven't heard back yet but considering the long weekend, I really didn't expect to.

Anyway, I didn't know a seller could up and cancel an auction in the middle of it, especially when someone has already bid.

Re: Auction cancelled after I bid

Yes, sellers are allowed to cancel auctions even if bids have already been placed. (the seller may have to pay eBay fees)

Re: Auction cancelled after I bid

Yes the seller owns the product until the auction is over AND the buyer has paid.

And the seller retains responsibility for the product until it is safely delivered to the buyer.

A seller does not really own an explanation to anyone.

Maybe the dog ate it.

Maybe he sold it elsewhere.

Maybe his grandmother eloped to Las Vegas, and he had to go be her bridesmaid.

There is no transaction.

It's okay to be annoyed, but there are 150 million items offered on eBay every day. Another one will be alone any minute.
