I don't think any seller would appreciate that and I've never heard of it on eBay. Paying in full seals the transaction deal in order so the seller can finally ship your purchased item which you have paid for in full, and not in instalments. If you pay in instalments, you need to contact the seller at first and see if they are okay with you paying a little at a time.

No but if you attach your credit card to your PP account, the effect is the same.

Your seller gets her full payment immediately, and you can pay off the cc charges at your leisure.

Partial PP payments might be possible, but the seller would not be able to print a shipping label (that's normal in layaway- the customer doesn't take possession until the payments are completed).

Partial payment reduces the Buyer Protection you have.
