Canadian buyer buying from a canadian seller in US dollars?

If I purchase through ebay, as a canadian buyer, from a canadian seller, is the cost calculated in US dollars? Via paypal?

Hi tina519.. PayPal pays seller in the currency of the listing . Then, using your example , automatically converts US to canadian dollars for charging to your bank account or credit card.

 

PP adds a 2.5 % conversion fee.

An eBay sale takes place in whatever currency the item is listed in. You have the same currency conversion fees as when buying from a seller located in the US.

Most Canadian sellers use US dollars because the USA is our largest market. While all the world understands the US dollar, Americans understand nothing else.

You can ask your buyer to re-invoice you in Canadian dollars if you find it all too confusing.

Note that the exchange rate changes constantly and just because it is 95.4 today doesn't mean it won't be 96.1 tomorrow or even an hour from now.
