Does sending items through customs as gifts save the buyer extra fees ?

  Would sending items to buyers listed as gifts save customs fees . Or is that good idea ?

No. As soon as you make an international purchase, you are an importer and subject to customs fees. Gifting is irrelevant.

And gifts are dutiable and taxable too, just at a slightly higher minimum ($60DCN rather than $20CDN)

 

BTW, if your seller is willing to cheat on duty, how do you know he will be honest with you?
