When a package goes out the door, I send an e-mail through BT to my customer. Here is the example with the customer's name deleted:

I leave feedback when I print the shipping label and include the shipping label number in the feedback.

Still I'm only getting about 75% response. Some leave it as soon as they get the parcel, some a week or so later.

I assume the emergency is that your customers are leaving low Detailed Seller Ratings? I notice you have a fair number of negs and neutrals, although your annual DSRs look okay.

You could increase the Shipping Rating by offering Free Shipping. That wins you FIVE stars automatically. You could either raise your asking price or eat the difference during the troubled time.

Your negs and neutrals show a percieved pattern of poor communication.

Remember that even a positive feedback may conceal low DSRs.

If you have received too many 1s and 2s, your selling may be restricted.

You may have to contact some of those unhappy customers and ask to have their feedbacks removed.

Several also seem unhappy that you will only replace or offer store credit rather than refunding.

A sophisticated buyer would then go to a PP dispute for a refund. During the time the dispute is open, you will have restrictions on your selling account.

If you lose the dispute, you will be forced into the refund and those restrictions could last up to a year.

Review your feedback in toolhaus.org. What patterns do you see?

Hey Susan, how is "retirement" going?


Hi PJ,

Retirement is wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed our visit with our oldest daughter and two granddaughters. They were here for 2 weeks from Ottawa. I didn't have to worry about going into my office and taking care of work!

And, our girls, Kaitlyn, MacKenzie & Emi, are loving the fact that Mom is available all of the time! We're able to do so much more together and that was our goal.

I still have a bit of product to sell which the girls know in the new year I will list an auction here or there to get things gone. However, I can't imagine that 1 or 2 auctions will take as much time as 4000 listings!

Skating is going great for our girls! Emi, who is 8 almost has two of her double jumps down pat! She's thrilled! The older skaters at the club just shake their head and say it's not fair! However, they also understand that she's more than 1/2 their height and only 42 pounds at 8 years old. It makes a difference!

Life is good! To close my eBay store and basically retire was the wise decision for me and my family. It's not for everyone. And, who knows....when our girls are grown, I may come out of retirement and sell again full time on eBay. But, by then I'm sure eBay will have morphed into something that I don't even recognize!

I hope your sales are going well during this holiday season!
