I changed my user ID and now I can't login with either of them

This is of course, with my old account, not this one. I wanted to change my user ID so I did that, but now I can't login with either of them. In fact, even when I use the forgot password option it now says both the new and the old use ID are invalid!

I know I didn't spell it wrong because when I go into ebay, it still says Hi, xxxxx! (sign out)

Even when I just copy that name, paste it into the forgot password option, it says your user ID is invalid.

I checked the help but I don't get it, what do you mean your old ID won't be available for 30 days. Or do they just mean your account is locked for 30 days once you change your user ID? wtf why can't they make it more understandable?

They mean you can't switch back to your old ID for 30 days.

And after 30 days it will be come avaliable to anyone who wants it.

Click the Customer Support link at the top right of this page and when the search box appears type " Can't Log In"

Then follow the prompts and eventualy you will get a telephone number and pin number to call customer service.

The numbers are only valid for 15 minutes.

BTW  your computer could be remembering your old log in credentials.

Try clearing your internet history saved passwords and cookies then reboot and try again.
