Imitations

I have noticed stamp imitations listed or repetitively re-listed with no indication that the items are not genuine. When imitations are reported to eBay what happens?

EBay is cagey about that- basically so as not to give the bad guys a heads up on what they can get away with.

Further if a member reports "too many" problems, he can find that he is pink-slapped for vigilantism.

But do report, a pink-slap is no big deal and your efforts may stop some fraud.

Oh another thing.

You might be wrong.

What is this "pink-slap" within eBay you refer to?

Reporting such items to eBay would appear to be the opposite of vigilantism - it allows eBay to enforce its own rules when specific items are brought to its attention - assuming that specific expertise is available within eBay to consult.

"with no indication that the items are not genuine"

Since it is against the law to sell fakes, do you expect sellers to state the item they are selling is not genuine?

Each listing has a Report this Item link. Feel free to use it. Ebay will do something or do nothing. Either way, they will not tell you what they are doing for privacy reasons.

By the way, ebay doesn't have any consultants. They would not know if something is fake or not but if you report a listing, they will look into. If they believe the item is fake, they will do something. If they do not feel the item is fake, they will do nothing.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.
