Okay is eBay just stupid or is it me.

Just to sum this up I went threw the Global shipping program  weeks ago. Yesterday or last night I was notified by the buyer that one of the Kyrins legs had broken off during shipment there were 2 of them.(never mind I did not believe them)  I asked for pictures. I called eBay because I had never dealt with the Global shipping program and I really never will again. Also never mind I had another of the same Kyrin right here and told them that on the phone. They took it upon themselves to open the case and notify the buyer. With not so much as a picture from this buyer they refunded on the whole thing. Unbelievable. Its no wonder they charge so much to sell here. They also tried to pull that full payment out of my account but there was not enough funds so they put a hold on my account. Not they say they will take it off in 24 hours. I pulled every listing I had up here while I talked to them. I really don't know if I will sell here again. You just cannot stop stupid and what eBay just did was just that. If they like loosing money they will continue in this stupid practice as for me no more international ever.

When you go through global shipping you are only responsible for the item up until it reaches the Kentucky depot. If they sent it to your buyer from there, then they are responsible for refunding the buyer, not you so you shouldn't be out any money in the end.

There have been many reported cases of items being repackaged improperly at the shipping center and of the items being broken so I can understand why they would just refund..especially since the buyer has no obligation to send a picture.

You are posting on a Canadian board and although I am not a fan of the global shipping system because it can be very expensive and slow for buyers here, I'm not really sure why are you so upset with the program.  Many of your smaller items could easily be shipped here with first class international package with delivery confirmation rather than through the gsp but if you prefer not to ship internationally at all, that's of course your choice.

You do realize you're posting on the eBay Canada boards?  We sellers don't have GSP shipping available to us here (thank goodness), although we do have a lot of complaints about it as buyers (from U.S. sellers who ship with the GSP).

The GSP is notorious for opening packages to get (required) information for Customs clearance, and then re-packaging poorly.  When a buyer receives a damaged item, the damage has occured AFTER it left the GSP hub at Erlanger, Kentucky, because if it arrived there damaged, it wouldn;t be forwarded to the buyer.  Therefore the GSP program is responsible not the seller.  You did ship to Erlanger, didn't you?

OK, you need to call eBay again and ask for a GSP specialist.  Explain that eBay has taken that refund out of your account.  That is not what should happen.  The seller should be left with payment, and eBay absorbs the refund.  Also check to see if you got a defect for this.  The GSP is supposed to shield the seller from defects for damage like this.  Apparently most of the CS reps are unfamiliar with the GSP program and its peculiarities.

Good luck to you, and don't give up until you have your payment back.  Just call back if you don't get someone knowledgeable to help you at eBay.

They did give it back or should say lifted the Pay Pal hold on my funds as I was $50.00 short for the refund they put a hold on my account. The whole thing took less than 16 hours to decide. Later the buyer wrote me. As soon as the buyer explained there was nothing between the figurines and no bubble wrap or air packs I knew it had been tampered with. This was after they got a full refund when only 1 figurine broke. I know I should not be mad but they do not explain anything to you at eBay they just took right over. I had the exact same figurine right here to ship back out this is what made absolutely no sense at all.  I would have in fact shipped out of my own pocket. What a waste of money and yes if that is how eBay USA wants to handle things than all I can say is Failure for them not for me as a seller. Still I pulled every auction I had up and will think before I ship threw that program again.Unless its a stuffed animal. I have shipped international myself before with out a hitch. This is not my first rodeo here. Next time I think I'll stick to my own packing.

As long as you opt out of Global Shipping Program (GSP) from all your listings and use USPS Priority or Empress mail service and you will be fine.

Why not first class with delivery confirmation?  In many cases, shipping with using Priority or Express would cost more to the buyer than using the gsp.

I'm glad that you got this corrected in your favour.  You have stated you would have to think about shipping with the GSP program again.  Perhaps you would like to know what Canadians think about the GSP.

In general, this program costs us a lot more, keeps us waiting extra time to receive our orders, and provides us with a higher number of damaged items, compared to shipments which come direct from the seller shipped by USPS.  For large bulky or heavy items, or high value dutiable items that are not breakable, it may offer some shipping savings to us, especially when compared to courier services.  The biggest problem is that the GSP providers are required to assess taxes and applicable duties on everything over $20 Canadian (about $15 USD), and then charge a service fee for doing that.  When shipped directly by sellers, most items under about $150 come in without Customs charges or taxes.  If you look on the Canadian boards, you will find thousands and thousands of posts expressing negative views about the GSP.  Canadians in general don't like it and many won't even look at listings that ship with it.

"USPS Priority or Empress mail service and you will be fine."

This is bad advice. That would start costing a Canadian buyer like $36 US to ship a cassette tape (example) when it could go USPS letterpost for a few $ or  USPS first class (cost $7 and up) for more expensive items that might need to be tracked.

We start using a tracked service when the item value is more than $39 US.

We have a US ebay account as well as this Canadian account.

Ebay really needs to look into changing it's return policies, it has gotten too easy for buyers to claim items do not work and not have to pay for return shipping.......when I go to the store and something is wrong with my item, I have to get up and bring it to the store for an exchange or refund and getting **bleep** for free does not become an option!!......but on ebay, any buyer can claim defect and especially if it is a low cost item, it becomes tough for us sellers to pay for returns and make the sale worth while to begin with, so, the buyer gets his item for free. I stand by my products and expect eBay to respect the sellers who make them their gazillions of cash, products that we sell may have a defect and refunding buyers is not the issue, we may have to incorporate extra costs to our products to cover returns if ebay does not do something about this scam that we are sure buyers are doing all over the world, it's just too easy. An electronic item is not defective just because you do not understand how to operate it, a phone case is not defective because you bought the wrong one for your type of cell phone, a cable is not defective because, again, you bought the wrong one! A expensive coffee maker is not defective just because you chose to operate a delicate piece of machinery without reading any of the instructions.....these are many instances that return requests are done without merit and ebay should demand pics of defective items purchased or short videos of operating malfunctions before giving our hard earned money to folks who maybe should not operating a computer to begin with.
