Shipping Costs

I am curious about the wide range of shipping costs.  Same size items can range from $10-$50.  Are selling trying to make extra money?

Shipping Costs

Maybe , maybe not.

Some sellers put part of their costs (and profit) into the shipping to make their item seem cheaper than their competitors.

Some sellers put part of their shipping cost into the asking price to make their item seem more competitive. (Buyers love low and "free" shipping, even when the total price is the same as the competitor's).

And it depends on the service the seller wants to use. Some US sellers will use First Class International which is pretty cheap but which cannot be Delivery Confirmed. A Delivery Confirmed service to Canada costs from $20 up.

Some sellers use UPS, or other couriers, domestically and automatically use them for foreign customers. This costs the startled buyer a bundle on the doorstep, but looks cheap when the order is placed.

Some US sellers are being conned into using the new Global Shipping Program which gives the seller a tiny discount, PitneyBowes a fat fee, and increases the buyer's costs while slowing delivery.

So, maybe yes , maybe no.
